Those are the paint codes that Ducati has provided. This is also the same format that MV Agusta and Cagiva use when referencing paint codes. The big problem is that no one at PPG has any idea what these codes are. They are NOT PPG paint codes and have no meaning to anyone outside of the bike manufacturers. PPG europe has no idea what they are either. The red that I use for instance on my Duc is PPG # 75617 MAGMAROT. This is very close to Duc red and was given to me by a customer as the Ducati red for a 2000 996. It did match his 996. I have used the same paint on other 2000 996 bikes and it did not match. Red and yellow are hard to match any way due to needing white under coat and being translucent. This is the main reason I only paint complete bikes anymore.

I just happened up on this thread and what Chris says is exactly what I have recently experienced. A few years back, I bought my Monster City from someone most of us know by now. I wanted to put an OE front fender back on in the original color (blue). I sent Ducati an email asking for the paint code. I got a prompt reply (very nice). The next day, I went to the local PPG rep who has been in business for longer than I can remember only to be told that the number does not resemble anything they've seen. I haven't spent a lot of time researching this situation since so I have no further info to go on or give. ALL I WANT TO DO IS PAINT MY FENDER!!!

Are those Ducati part numbers? Wouldn't surprise me that you can only get that paint from a dealer.

They could be but I asked for, and was told they were, PPG numbers. Obviously not the case.

Don't hold me to this but I did talk to a ppg paint rep and remember that the ppg has a system called globel....... That ducati code is then coverted into a ppg globel # ........... This info is from memory when i did alot of bike mostly for dealers and ran into these types of challenges all the time. I used to have to do alot of research and testing because close enough doesn't cut it for the dealers and customers............. I don't know if this was any help ............ sincerely davide deangelis PAINT WORKS NORTH ROYALTON OHIO

I found the codes worthless as well. My painter had to "eye match" the paint after trying three laser shots on the Senna Grey color. If anyone wants them, I have the mfr. and #'s of the paint he used. It turned out great.

Lync is right. You can get the right paint at "Color-Rite".

They also sell handy little touch-up pens that work great!
